Great British Sewing Bee 4-6 Recap
Wow, it's starting to get difficult on the Bee! It seems that week after week, the show gets more and more challenging but here's our round up of episodes 4-6.

Let's start with week 4, technical fabrics week. We were so impressed with the makes this week. Throwing them in the deep end with swimsuits then moving on to dog coats (aww, Winston!) and finishing with fashionable tracksuits. All very complicated things!
While we can't offer you technical fabrics, we can help with construction. We've also upped our haberdashery game to offer machine needles (including a twin needle), magic disappearing pens and bias binding - all available in store and soon online. Hopefully this can assist you with your stitching of difficult materials and creating your technical masterpieces!
We were incredibly sorry to see Alexei go, especially as he was representing our city of Leeds in the competition. However he did so well and we can't believe he's only been sewing a couple of years! Very impressed!
Week 5 was a particular highlight for us. Reduce, reuse and recycle. It's so important in our fast fashion world to do what we can to make items last and be less disposable. It's such a great conversation for the Sewing Bee to start and we're so glad that it was highlighted.

We love that they used all their scrap materials in the transformation challenge. If you have any scrap material, why not bring it in. We're always collecting leftovers for the Happy Soul Project. They make superhero capes for children with terminal diseases as a way to empower and motivate them.
The last challenge saw the contestants making dresses, with home textiles and reusing upholstery fabric. Have you seen our HANNA SKIRT? She's the skirt we use to show you how to start dressmaking in our SEW ALONG CLASS, but she's also made from vintage upholstery fabric. It really suits this style, because the stiffness of the fabric gives her a distinct A Line shape and the pattern makes her completely unique.
Lastly we come to week 6, British and Irish fabrics week. It's so important to support industry in this country and we love how the Sewing Bee showed the heritage of the fabrics.
From lightweight linen jackets to striped ticking fabric from deck chairs, this week was definitely representing Summer weather. We can't help with many linens but we definitely have some summer weight materials to see you through the season. How about this NAVY AND WHITE SEERSUCKER? Or this beautiful WHITE DOBBY SPOT COTTON?
The final challenge was all about coats and wool. We were blown away by Riccardo's stunning coat. The colours were beautiful and the detail absolutely stunning. Have you seen the wools which we have in stock? Both herringbones, we have a GORGEOUS PALER COLOUR as well as a MORE PREMIUM, DARKER WOOL.
Janet made her coat unique with some applique. Have you ever tried it? Not quite the same as Janet's London landmark patches, however we're running a HAND APPLIQUE WITH HAYLEY MILLS-STYLES where you can decorate a bag or a hoop.
The main question which we're all wondering though is did Riccardo ever take Janet clubbing?
